Looking for a good bridge pickup for my Silo. I am basically looking for something that is like a wall of sound, lots of crunch and plenty of edge. I also wouldn't mind a little bit less highs than I have now. Basically, something meaner...

I use bridge for most rythem stuff generally, and I really want to melt faces with it :D
 
I'm also looking for bridge pickup to tame the treble a little bit. Found the following description for Dimarzio's ToneZone in their homepage. Sounds like might do the job:
"Have you ever heard a bridge pickup that made a guitar sound like a giant mosquito attack? If you've run into this problem, The Tone Zone® is the solution. The Tone Zone® is hot enough to qualify as a high-output pickup, but it has a wider dynamic range-hard picking will produce a lot of power, and softer picking will be much cleaner and quieter. ..."
 
I think the Tone Zone would work nicely, I have one in my J-Custom and my father has the single coil sized version in his '79 Strat. I'd say it does what you're looking for.
 
The Duncan SH6 is looking tempting to me, as is the ToneZone. I've heard lots of great stuff about the bareknuckles as well.

@ Reb: I like the JB, but I don't think it would sound they way I want it to with the alder body. The guitar I had it in was mahogany (Mustaine sig), so I think it'd be a lil too much on the bright side.

I want to also say that the pickups in the Sub1 are amazing to me :eek:

JB definitly not. The Silo had one when I got it and there was somethin lacking.. no good match.
Got an SH-6 in there at the moment. Much better but still to trebly for my taste.

I guess that rules out the SH6 then. I'm thinking either a ToneZone, Super 3, or something from bare knuckles. But, I'm seriously considering finding a set of Sub1 pickups... they are truly amazing, especially for what I do :)
 
How about Dimarzio Breed Bridge?


I always love Andy Timmons sound.. Dimarzio tech told me that the closest one to Andy Timmons custom is Dimarzio Breed.. I have a bunch of TOne Zone on my PGM but I prefer Breed since it's more aggressive IMO..


Regarding will Breed fits Alder body, I think it will suit well.. AT100 is an Alder body guitar and I just love the way it sound..

Check out the Tom Anderson HN3+. It's heavy without being mushy. At the same time it has great edge without being too bright, and the harmonics are awesome.

I'm going to give the D-Sonic a chance when my JP comes in, but if it doesn't cut it, that's the pickup that's going in the bridge.

Hey SUB!

my humble two cents is the DiMarzio ToneZone for the full package, or the AirZone with slightly more definition and just a little less output. Both reeeally cool !

Edit: ya know I have a ToneZone in my purple Silo SPecial and an AirZone in the replacement pickguard for my lavender Silo Special (by recommendation from Mick). Dig them both BIG TIME !

pickups!I'll give ya' pickups!

Without a doubt try the tone zone's!!,they are awsome a great sound~ chords still have definition but single notes kick @ss as well!I use them in almost all my guitars 40+ so I ain't no NOOBIE to tone they sound great,as with dimarzio products they will let you return them for exchange of another kind!So it's like a free test drive ,but you'll dig 'em I never met anybody that had a bad feeling toward them when trying them with MY setup just awsome!!

the Tone Zone is really an amazing pickup. Truly amazing. You won't regret it.

I agree also with Barry. If you want something slightly meaner, the Breed will do the trick. Almost like an PAF PRO on crack.

Cool thing about Dimarzios is they give you 30 days from day of purchase to swap it out if you don't like the sound. check the website for specs.
