I saved up a bit and I'm now willing to get THE dream guitar I've always wanted. Unfortunately it's 1) hard to figure out exactly which that would be and 2) entirely impossible to try any musicmen in shops. I am not kidding. 100% impossible.

I have two Axis (axii?) Supert Sports and I love them, but I'm thinking something different here:

1) Al HH: played one once and I absolutely LOVED it. Fantastic guitar with a GREAT tone, and back then I really felt it was THE guitar for me
2) Reflex: more tones (not really needed for me, but always fun), slightly louder and more expansive with its sound
3) Luke III: for something new...

I don't gig. I want it because I want to make myelf happy and get THE guitar I want.
I love the Axis' neck. Fits me like a glove, but I also like my Fender (highway 1)'s neck, which is very different. So I'm not THAT picky in the end.

So what would the main differences in terms of neck and tones be? The only one of the three I ever played has been an Al HH, along of course with my Axii.

Thanks for any tips!

There are lots of criteria for playing a guitar, and I have always felt that the first and most important one is getting the tone that you're searching for.

Feel, comfort, design, etc are things we can work around and adapt to. Can't settle for an instrument that doesn't move you, IMO.

Looks like AL HH is the one for you. It's not easy to find a guitar that makes a tonal impression on the first play. I love my 25th, and its my #1, but to each his own!

So it would seem... It's a damn shame there are barely any Lukes or Reflexes in Europe, makes it very hard to try the alternatives :(

I love the Axis/Axis Sport.
I love my HH AL
Played a Luke 3 today and loved the neck (but I want to see if there are any new colors at NAMM)

If you love the Axis neck you will love the HHAL or the LUKE. However, I don't dig the thinner Reflex neck or the neck pocket (its not as sculptured as the others)

I haven't played a Luke III so I can really comment on that one but between the AL HH and the Reflex they are a bit different in neck feel and tone. To me the AL is a little more focused sounding, deeper or darker and the Reflex has that chambered more "open" semi-hollow sound which is difficult to describe but has its own uniqueness to it. I'm not sure how different the neck shapes are but the Reflex seems a bit thinner to me and the AL is slightly more round

Damn. So I'd need a Reflex with AL neck :P

I think the AL is for me. Quite simply I remember loving every single aspect about it.

AL HH it shall be :) I'll try to find a second hand one on here first.
