Sabre Bass problem

I recently purchased a 1980 Sabre Bass and have discovered that the "boost" switch is doing nothing. The 3 way pickup selector and phase switch work fine, but the boost switch has no effect. I remember on my old '79 Sabre this would produce an audible difference. I'm wondering if there could be a simple wiring problem or might there be a problem with the preamp? Any help is appreciated!

Since we're talking about Sabres, were there two electronics options? I've seen Sabres with a 5-way switch and others with toggles.

What is the difference between the two?

Sabre Basses were introduced 1978 (Pre-EB period) with a 2 band toggle switch preamp. The toggle switch design changed to slide switching in circa 1983. The slide switching was continued with Ernie Ball when they started production in 1985. In circa 1987, EB introduced an optional 3 band version of the slide switch preamp. So from that point you had a choice of either a slide switch 2 band or slide switch 3 band. The Sabre ceased production in 1991.

The difference between the toggle and slide switch configurations can be found here:

Hi Rod, I have a 79 MM Sabre which I love to play. Unfortunately it had to be refinished due to the humidity here in Brazil.
The bass is finished but I'm having some problems with the electronics and I'd like to know if you don't mind to send me its wiring schematic.
Thanks in advance

What happens to my Sabre is: when I uninstalled the electronics I probably had something disconnected that I can't re-conect right now without the help of wiring schematic!:o
I've tried many times but it has no sound at all!

My '80 Sabre, it's barely noticeable when the treble boost switch is flipped. But I have always heard this was normal. I have defintely run across other owners who said their's doesn't do much either.
