Satin Finish?

Have Stingrays ever been finished in satin as opposed to gloss? I'm thinking particularly of basses from the early 90s and in a natural finish. If a 'ray has this kind of finish will it most likely have been applied outwith the factory. Sorry to ask but I've searched the forums and haven't found anything.
