Shipping the Bongo

I found out the other day that my Bongo should hopefully be ready by July 15th!

All this talk about gig bags and paint chipping and the likes has made me freak out about getting my Bongo to Australia.

Is the paint on the Bongo's thin?, i've heard a bit about this. And do you guys reckon that the Hard Case that Bass central use for Bongo 4's will be sufficient?

I dropped my Bongo 4 a while back. I mean really dropped it, hard, violent, awful.

I was using a gig bag, but it was not the gig bag's fault. I'd just finished a set and some bassist came up to ask me about the Bongo. I had the gig bag on the top of my foot and slid the bass in....you know, keeping the bag and the body off the floor, protecting it with my foot. Before I zipped the bag up, he asked me a question and I turned to answer him.

Gravity being what it is, the bass wasn't balanced on my foot and - clang! - over it went, clipping a cymbal and landing hard on the floor. HARD.

It knocked a little bit of paint off the very corner of the headstock and bent my volume knob a bit, but otherwise, it's good.

There is nothing to worry about. The Bongo is no more and no less fragile than any other bass I've ever flung about.

The hard case from BC, while not my fave case of all time, does protect the bass.

Relax, it's going to be okay.

If it's a G&G Vintage case it will ship just fine. Granted the hardware is a bit suspect but the inside of the case fits and protects it perfectly.Plus you will get comments on how cool the case is.
