Would you guys to through the trouble to try and fix this (brand new guitar...this is the way it came to me), or try and send it back to EB, or just leave it alone?

Well, are you ever going to actually play the guitar or just hang it in a glass case?

Foggy's right, BTW (not that he would know from experience), but that chip exists on every guitar I own. It is inevitable.
 
This will definately not be a glass case piece. Just wanted other's opinions. I might just hit it with a black Sharpie to make it a little less obvious.
 
IMHO, If it's not a used instrument, send it back. I have marks and chips on my guitars but I put them there, they didn't arrive there when I took posession of a brand new instrument. Either that or have the store credit you 100-200 dollars.
 
If it's a brand new,then it hase to be brand new,not with chips...
Ask for store credit or sent back!

I got it from Make'n Music...I sent them an email yesterday evening about it, so hopefully they will do something, either a partial refund, or maybe a store credit.
 
If it's new and you paid full price, send it back. I don't get the "hey it's an instrument not a museum piece" nonsense. I work hard for my money and I expect new when I buy new.

I bought my Luke from MakeNMusic and was assured the guitar would be blemish free. When I got it, it had finish blem on the body. Luckily, I was able to rub it out with rubbing and polishing compounds, otherwise, I would have sent it back.

I have no problems with marks on my new guitars as long as I'm the one who put them there.

Hell yeah. You deserve a credit if it was sold to you new. That's a blem.
 
I can't see the damage on this crappy monitor! (I'm not at home at the mo).

Some kind of discount should be given for a blem.

I would not accept it without a discount.

Take it through the normal channels:-
Dealer then Customer Service if not satisfied.

Just remember...That guitar didn't leave the factory that way. It was most likely damaged during shipping.
 
I'd probably wait to send it in until/or if something else goes wrong with it. Then get that fixed at same time.

But for sure make the store refund you a little money or maybe a box of strings. A $30-$50 discount seems about right.

If it really bugs you, send it back.

Abso-tively. My assumption is that stuff happens once the dealer gets it and puts it within reach of the general public.
 
Yeah, I'd would demand store credit. Or get it fixed whatever you prefer. The idea of buying brand new to me is, you get something that no one has ever laid hands on. And as Jon said It didnt come from the factory that way. Just my opinion.

Considering that every guitar is individual in it's tonal character (they are all different pieces of wood), and if you really dig the way it sounds and plays, why would you send it back (unless you are assured of getting the same one back)? I guess I would just demand some monetary compensation for the ding and if I was told no, I'd return the guitar and do business elsewhere.

Is the store near you? Did you get it shipped to you?
 
I would guess it happened during shipping. Make N' Music is one of the nicest, most clean stores I have ever been to. All the guys are stand up guys there. Most of thir sales are internet based. You have to get buzzed into a gate to get in as it is located on the south side of Chi-town.
