Should I order my StingRay in Desert Gold and...

... yeah, what options? H or HS? Checked out a HS yesterday, and have to say I loved the options, especially the single coil alone, but I'm not sure whether the neck pickup will get in the way for slapping... and I was not fully fond of the new style pickup casing. I'm really really used to anchor my picking hand thumb on the pickup between the two screws on top.

Maple neck or rosewood with matching headstock. I've never seen the colour in person, and they had none to show at the local distributor, so it's hard to tell how the different necks would look....

Any suggestions (and pics!) are welcome. An expert opinion by the Maker Himself even more so

Desert Gold doesn't come across on the monitor as well as in real life; stunning!

As far as the pickup cover, I prefer the new style...pure comfort.

BTW, I prefer a Maple FB to Rosewood when matched up to Desert or Trans Gold finishes...

...with matching headstock.

Oh, and the H/S config won't get in the way of slapping...Jazz Bass owners have been doing it for years.

oliver, i see there is a 30th anniversary on the used section of guitar center ( im allowed to say that?)

in my opinion you should get that one, since you are craving for a 30th for so long (which i can imagine that u are craving for one)

its a sterling - but close enough eh.

you know u want it in HS. The neck pickup wont get in your way - i promise. I slap my HH SR4 around all day - same with my HS Sterling. no problemo

many years ago, the first SR4 I ever saw, that turned me onto MusicMan basses, was in a store window in all her glory inTrans Teal and rosewood ... If you like Desert Gold, It's one scorchin' hot colour and I'd never be shy about ordering an SR4 in either that, or Cherry Burst with mhs
Whatever you decide, we know you'll love it and that it will be first class quality with top notch tone
