Should my case be snug?

Hi all

Apologies if this has been covered but couldn't find the answer on search.

Recently bought my second JP6. I've only just noticed that the guitar doesn't sit snuggly in a perfectly fitted case as my older JP6 does in it's case.

Now I've just seen a couple of pics of a JP on the pmblues site which also appears to be sat in a hole that's too big in it's case! (Especially around the lower horn).

My dealer doesn't have any other Musicmans in the 'wrong' case so my question at the end of all that is - is this right?

That case is correct, MusicMan no longer uses form-fit cases. The current case design fits all 6 string guitars.

if the case is too snug something has to give on impact....... ie stress cracks this is why there is some movement...too snug=no good

The solution, of course, is to never put your Music Man guitar down.

Kind of like how a race car is designed to expend energy by disintegrating on heavy impact, leaving the driver safe.

This is what happened to my case, courtesy of UPS. The Silhouette Special inside was unharmed.

Well I'll give it a try on the M25 tomorrow, but I don't rate my chances!

I'd have to recommend not doing that.. even Mr. Morse reserved his playing for those nice straight stretches of highway!

But if you insist, may I recommend that you play "Highway Star"?

Well, the two oldest ones came (Red and EVH) came from Project Music on the A4, now ABC. The Sparkle and the Sunburst I imported from the States and the Yellow came from a private seller in Swindon.

You ever go to the local jam sessions? I help run a noisy rock jam in West Drayton every Thursday at the Fox & Pheasant. You should pop down!
