HELLO EVERYONE.
I NEED HELP ON PICKING A BRIDGE PICKUP FOR MY SIL'
THE NECK PAF PRO IS AWESOME BUT THE BRIDGE NEEDS MORE PUNCH, SO I WANT TO CHANGE IT. I'M GOING AFTER A SLIGHTLY HOTTER P'UP BUT NOT HI-OUTPUT; AND ALSO I LIKE HI-MIDS BUT NOT SHRILL HI'S OR EXTREME LOW'S. MY DESCRIPTION MAY SOUND FUNNY BUT THAT'S HOW I THINK OF IT. I READ ALOT OF THE NORTON BUT DON'T KNOW MUCH OF DIMARZIO'S.
I DID TRY A USED EVH EB-MM IN A STORE AND THE BRIDGE DISTORTION WAS AMAZING.
DON'T CARE OF THE BRAND OF PICKUP....
THANK YOU

I put a SH-6 Duncan distortion in my silhouette special and it sounds fantastic, its a perfect balance of mids, lows, thump, highs etc...its a really good pup, it is medium output to high output but in a bolt on/alder body ist not too aggressive, very clean and you can hear all the notes ring at any amount of distortion, the cleans are good, but when the pup is in the split humbucker and middle coil phase it is the greatest sounding instrument on the planet, its is clear and ballsy, very tom morello in that position -

thank you

still looking around ...
i just might try the distortion, the sil' is not that bright , i know it's alder but bright means somthin' like a carvin.

most all overwound pickups have a midrange boost....... but it's usally in only a certain area of midrange.......and so they usally get honky...or...or boosted in some wierd and limited area of midrange...... EXCEPT.....the steve morse model bridge......it's a very broad midrange boost.......which sounds much more natural......and..it's very hot !!! you can still order them thru any dimarzio dealer....but they have to be special ordered......as they are not in the current lineup. i see them on ebay sometimes too....
they sound GREAT in any guitar. highly recomended.
