ok..... there's the obvious, Victor Wooten.. You may also try some Brian Bromberg, Adam Nitti, Flea, Marcus Miller, Yellow Jackets, etc. If you're just starting out let me give you some advice though.......... don't limit yourself to just playing slap style. Yes it sounds cool and its a lot of fun to play, but only at the right time and in the right place of the song. Always remember that the pocket should be the main focus of any bassist at all times. Keep it musical, whatever style you're playing. Look at Jamerson's style, or Rocco Prestia. They can play a minimal amount of notes, yet its so musical. They can also play all the notes on the fretboard if and when the groove calls for it and it still doesn't sound too busy. They are always in the bottom of the pocket. Always. Just keep your ears and mind open and it will come to you. You'll get it. Good luck!

I really thought slap was dead in today's music. As my wife knows I ain't always right.. It did seem like an 80's thing to me.

You should check out Dave LaRue too. He is a part of the EBMM family, plays fretted/fretless MusicMan Sterling and StingRay 5.

geez he really got boooed on the last track of his live solos. its funny the difference between crowd response from the 80s track and that one in '98. Wanking obviously OUT by that stage!!

You're kidding, right? I can only assume by your use of the word "wanking" that you are predisposed to hearing "boo," instead of "Stu." They were most assuredly not booing. :rolleyes:
