the dings will kill the bass
after playing for five months the bass cant take the tension any more and implodes
i donno
maybe we should leave this one to some one smarter than me
i would say wood fillar and grind it down with a high high grade sand paper

My SUB has some small indentions under the painted neck, It was like this when I bought it new from my local dealer. It does not hurt it whatsoever. Scratches give it character. Forget they are there, you'll go insane if you dwell upon them.
Trying to fix a small scratch "could be" more trouble than its worth.

I generally feel some relief when I notice the first little ding on a new bass.If you are going to use them it's inevitable.My first bass was a 72 Pbass that was pristine when I first got it.Now it looks like it went through the Boer War.

Aren't the SUB necks painted?
You guys out there saying "Oh, I guess I'd do this or do that", please be careful about throwing out bad info.
If you've tried it with good results, great, tell us all about it - but if you don't have a clue, it is much easier to get problems solved without bad information out there.
If the SUB necks are painted, and I do believe they are, you don't want to use the heat/iron method we've all learned works pretty well on "regular" necks.
As for fixing a scratch/dent on a painted neck.....I just don't know.
And if YOU don't know, you should say that, too - "I don't know."

Yeah, the SUB neck is good and painted. Basically, if there's a little dent, or a scratch... Tough. There's nothing really to do but live with it. Besides if it doesn't affect the playability it'll be easily overlooked.
Yeah yeah I know how you feel. Just the other day I started noticing some white marks on my SUB's head, probably from random and accidente bumps into my wall as I get a bit carried away with music. I gave it a good rub, and I did the mandatory frowning, and I did the mandatory "crap! - I"m getting a Bongo in a few days.. That's WAY too beautiful to be scratched!!!!". As much as I believe all Bongo's should constantly stay in mint condition. there's nothing to do but be careful.
Care for your bass ahead of time. Do all the tedious whipings and paying attention to the strings and your hands and learning to set it up etc. etc. etc. If there's one thing I can't stress enough to the people around me that ask for my advice on anything instrument related it's "Know your instrument!" If it's your baby and you truely respect it... Prove it.

Yeh i do take care of it alot i just cant believe i scratched it. As for wot bovinehost said i though i cleared it up from my first post that i didnt know. Yeh i know you live with it. I aint a big thing just one of them things i'd like to know if can be done. Ive had scratches in my other guitars but as this is my first strach in 'My baby' than just something u worry bout for about a minute. I am well past it now
