So I was bored the other night while my wife went to see Madonna and decided to make a soundclip of the MXR M80 D.I. for the TB BIG SOUND SAMPLE Thread. I did 2 tracks of bass(one clean and one heavily distorted)with my Stingray 4 running through the M80 and then to a Boss BR864 8 track. I was going for a Billy Gould kind of thing. It's pretty simple but I think I came pretty close(on the tone anyways:rolleyes: )

haha, gotta love faith no more. Was the GK involved in this at all? Or you went straight to the boss.

Straight to the Boss. Here's a secret Fig.Unless you mic a GK amp/cab you don't really get any of the GK sound/growl. The sound from the D.I. isn't affected by the Boost control(only affects power amp) which gives you the growl that people love from GK's. Going through the D.I. on the 1001RB pretty much sounds like going straight to the board(which sometimes I do:rolleyes: ) so to answer your question the tone was all EBMM and MXR M80...
 
Yeah i totally get the part about the DI, its all good, was just curious. Ive listened to some of your other tracks with your band for the GK growl. Good stuff <3

I recently rememberd that GK is releasing the Fusion 550 soon, and I really want one. I think it will be perfect for me. I trust that GK growl to give me what I want, and the added tube preamp is just sweet.

As for a cab, Ive been trying real hard to find a Berg combo that would fit my wallet and just overall the sound and volume ive been going for, its been tough. The EA NL-210 has caught my eye recently. We shall see what happens, cab wise. EA makes amazing stuff as well.
