ok, i went to guitar center to test out some stingrays. i found ONE with a maple neck, it was orange. when i first saw it i was like "well this is kinda ugly", but now that ive had time to think about it, i really like that bass. id buy it raise up the action a bit(see my other thread "report from the field" if you dont know what im talking about) and have the love of my life. the thing is 1. i dont have the money at the moment, so more than likely if i go back itll be gone, and 2. i dont know what the color is called. if someone has a stingray that is orange, i believe the color name is desert gold but im not sure, i would be most appreciative if you would post a pic and the color name so that i can confirm this. thanks in advance.

Travis...If you can see the wood grain through the finish, it is Trans Orange..If it is an opaque color, it would probably be Desert Gold, but I would need to see a pic to be sure
 
There is a DG color and a few other variants. Call them tomorrow and ask. I wouldn't worry too much about it being gone. They can pull from all of the other GCs around the country (usually within a few days - took them 3 days to ship in my ProM from Seattle) and I am sure that they, GC, will have something in their inventory to your liking (there is an orange one up here with the washed copper pg and rosewood neck... VERY NICE). Worse case senario... do what some of us have done... order just what you want!!! :D (just be prepared for the agony of waiting)

i dont know. maybe im stupid. but i swear the stingray i saw was more orange and less gold. maybe it was just a variance in the paint. i dont know. but i definatly know that it wasnt transparent. did mm ever make a orange sparkle? that thing was shiny, it almost had a sparkle to it. maybe i was seeing things. but it looked like it was a bright orange with a very light sparkle to it.
 
That rocks!!! But I don't think that is what he is talking about. On the SR that I've seen the DG comes across as a little more orange (it might also be picking up color from the washed copper pg).

If it isn't that, then it has to be DG (well it doesn't have to be... )
