SR5: Let us not forget to praise the single-coil setting

So... I play with an 8-piece rock-funk-whatever band (The Space Heaters)...which is a challenge for bass sound -- needs to be solid, but to cut and punch.

You all will understand why I've arrived at a Stingray 5 as the solution.

So, playing last night, I'm working on my sound during the first few songs, and I go with the single coil setting, and it KILLS! Clean strong bottom, lots of growl. With my Eden Wt300 and 15 and 12 cabs I've got plenty of bottom.

The forgotten/under-rated SR5 setting?

I was in tone heaven. Of course, I did go to series when even more serious bottom was needed ;-).

I actually prefer the single coil setting over the parallel setting. Series is my favorite, but the single coil setting has such a growly and zingy slap tone.

I'm usually in parallel but i'll jump around every now and then just for some flavor.

Parallel kills though.

I like parallel for recording and when I want a little less forward sound, but in this big band, series and single do it for me.

Question: On the new 2-pickup models, is the both-coils setting on the bridge pickup series or parallel?
