St Vincent vs Sting Ray Guitar?

Hi all,

I've been a Gibson man for many years and a couple of years ago I bought one of the EBMM St Vincent guitars and I've been absolutely in love with it ever since. It's been my go to guitar for gigs and pretty much everything else ever since.

Lately I've been eyeing the Sting Ray guitar as a possible addition to my gigging setup. I haven't tried one of the Sting Rays yet, but it seems like it probably plays and sounds similarly to the St Vincent based on what I've read.

Anyone tried both that can comment on how they compare as far as sound and playability is concerned?

I haven't tried either, but if the St. Vincent in question is the three mini HB model, I imagine that it would provide enough of a contrast with the Stingray's config to justify an additional spot on your wall. Captain obvious would of course suggest a test run.
 
Just keep the St Vincent. Play it, love it. Don't go down the GAS path. Really -- don't do it...
 
Well, I've never played a St. Vincent, but they look amazing. There is a video on youtube of a guy comparing a "Music Man StingRay vs Gibson LP Classic Antique 2007".

The Stingray has more personality and depth. Go watch that video. You'll be impressed.
 
The Stingray has a slightly different neck shape than the St V. I don’t think you have any problems switching back and forth.
I haven’t played these two models back to back but I think the Stingray pickups may be a bit hotter than the St Vs.
I think you would enjoy owning both and don’t hesitate asking for our opinions on the next MM guitar your looking to buy next :)
