Question Starry night owners

Hello People

I am thinking of purshasing the gorgeous Cutlass Starry night model. I have seen that there are no inlay dots on the front of fretboard like my L3 model. Do you experience that it became harder to play or did you get used to it? I think it's very beautiful with a clean fretboard but functionality comes first.

What is your experience?

Like QS said - when playing I don't look at the fretboard dots - I glance at the side dots - so it's no problem at all.

No difference for me. I was concerned about that, but I haven't even noticed it.

The only drawback I've found is that my guitar teacher has a little trouble with it because he can't see quickly and easily where I'm at. I usually take my old Axis with markers in for lessons.
 
Played several Parker Flys with no "front" dots and it never was a problem. Same with my AL HH Starry Night. This should definetly not prevent you from buying the Cutlass!
 
Thanks for your feedback guys. I am now convinced that there will be no problems. Actually, I thought EBmm would never let go of something that would not work out well. They actually make the best axes in the world!��
 
I was concerned about that, too. But when I got my Starry Night Axis and LIII it was a 100% non-issue. I was actually surprised. I think MAYBE I subconsciously use the side dots and actually don't use fretboard dots. Or maybe, just maybe, after playing for 34 years I don't actually need them and they're just a crutch/safety blanket!

Hi Magnus,

I'm saying no worries as I started playing mine, never missed them at all. And honestly I'm still taking lessons (in the last part of my 2 year maybe?) so I think for me it's really all about the side fret markers. I never look at the inlay dots or images while playing. Go enjoy one if possible for a bit, see if you notice them missing or do you use them while playing? I'm curious. Thanks

There was a very slight adjustment period for me, especially when moving large distances across the fretboard....but I got used to it.

I have tried to really focus on to how I look at the fretboard when I'm playing and have to say that I use the dots at the front a lot. At least when I sit down and play. When I stand up it's less important.

Exactly. Actually it made me aware that I'm always looking at the side dots and never at the fretboard dots. When standing I don't see them anyway.

So don't let that keep you from buying it, it will be no issue at all!
