Has anyone tried cleaning their Axis neck w/ 0000-steel wool? That's the lightest gauge they make. a friend told me and I tried it. It made my neck silky smooth after all that gunk was removed.

Are there any long term effects to this?

Also, would this also work for an all-maple neck fretboard? If it does I assume I can also use it on my Luke's neck (not the rosewood fretboard though).

Oil the fretboard and oil and wax the back and you will be happy.
I do it the same way on my EBMMs.
