I know a lot of you guys don't care for Guitar One, but if you're interested, Steve Morse has a spot towards the back of the latest issue. There's also a full page add of JP with the D-Sonic...

I actually like it too...been getting it for a few years now. I just don't say anything because so many people trash it...;)

why do people not like Guitar One here? i think its a pretty good mag. been getting it for a long time, since about 1992 when it was GFTPM. Guitar World i dont like.

What is that about?

I haven't noticed that myself. It is like any other guitar mag, some good stuff, some crap, if there is enough good stuff I buy , if not I just read it in the book store.

Thanks BP - now at least I know I'm not going crazy about how folks feel here. ;)

Never the less, I still don't think it could hurt to publicize our beloved MM players!!!:D

Some of those guitar mags are turning into gossip columns.

Most of them are pure S--T!
If you remove the advertisements, there's nothing left!!!

Someone should come out with a true Guitar Magazine. Something that represents quality, like JD Powers & Associates.

I guess the problem would be that it would become an EBMM magazine with maybe a few other manufacturers! ;)

Well it is true that most of these mags are PACKED with ads. I actually like them though - because they keep me on top of what's being released. If I see something interesting, then I go off and look for a 'real' review. I have also learned a few things from the lessons in G1. They do run some real junk stories though. Several have been discussed here - like the guitarists that need to retire, best guitarists, etc. I'll never forget the article (although I don't know what issue it is in) where they were talking about influential modern guitarists, and right smack in the middle of the list was Michelle Branch. She may be nice, and she may write some decent songs, but an influential guitarist? It just didn't work for me.

Anyway, to each his own! :D

I had a look at a guitar world just recently, I noticed they don't even use traditional notation anymore.

yes thats the main reason i dont like it, my students ask me why i'm teaching them in some weird way, and they show me the tab in GW and think its normal. they've been doing it for about 6 or so years, apalling really, whats wrong with the standard way? cutting out notation is abysmal.
