Steve Morse tour dates in January here in california!!!

His website www.stevemorse.com lists them as SMB/Dixie Dregs!

Please don't tell me he's doing shows with both bands!!!

Killer on the SMB/Dregs dates. Man, I wish this'd get to Toronto. I'm going to have to come to Cali to see one of these shows.
 
I saw the SMB / Dregs show in Atlanta in 2000. That's where I got Steve to autograph my EBMMSM model. I would like to open one of these shows. (Boing) I know I'm going to the Phoenix show and I might like to do the San Juan Cap show too. Darrell? Can I count you in for the Phoenix show? (Provided you're over the VH high you are going to have here in Tucson) Keith, Care to join me at San Juan Cap?

Okay Steve, I'm going to assume you may visit this thread, so I'm gonna put together a wish list for the Coach house show in the next post or two.

I'm guessing there won't be a lot of rehearsal time, but that you'll be doing a set with each band.

I've seen you about 25-30 times in the past 20 years, and always come away happy and inspired...but

can I suggest you please put together a 3 song medley of your classical songs this time through. It was through your music that I discovered classical music. Many of us in the crowd are guitar players (duh), and for some reason you stay away from performing these gems of yours (like LITTLE KIDS, DAY 444, etc).

We thirst to hear these. I love CRUISE CONTROL but after hearing it live everytime I see you play, I'd gladly trade it for the classical medley (though your volume swelling solo in it has to stay :D )

Glad you're hitting the stage this time through NAMM. Last year we were bumming :(

Wow- nice set list. I'd have to add "Take it off the Top" and possibly "Twiggs Approved". Maybe he can add them as an encore :D
 
Yeah. Twiggs approved I think I've only seen him do once or twice. Great song.

I also left off THE BASH and CRUISE CONTROL, arguably both signature songs.

But I've heard them both at I think every dregs show I've ever seen.

How many (and which) of the 20 do you play?

Just a few more comments regarding my lists. PICK YOUR POISON, off Stand Up, is a hyper-country rocker that could be the music of a chase scene on horseback.

THE EASY WAY, off Stressfest, is my favorite Morse rock and roll tune. And Eyes Of A child, off Stressfest, I could listen to 50 times in a row and still be mesmorized by its melodic beauty and depth.

Mechanical Frenzy, off Split Decision, plays over the opening credits of Steve's DVD, and Gentle FlowerHidden Beast, also off SPLIT, is my favorite tune of anything Steve's released since Stressfest CD.

No surprises really in the Dregs list with the exception of Little Kids (which Steve was nice enough to play for me when I saw him working the Lexicon Booth back at Namm 84!). Just a pretty guitar violin duet that serves its title perfectly.

Also of note is GO FOR BAROQUE, off Unsung Heroes (along w/ High Tension Wires my favorite Morse cd's), is an exquisite example of steve's all around composing brilliance. Blends guitar, bass, violin and keyboards into such a haunting melody with twists and turns that'll make you weep. (Bach & Rach would be mighty impressed if they weren't dead :p )

Looks like I have to do a swap...Out is Odyssey. In is DAY 444 (which I've never heard him play live).

Just listening to it in the car. So damn emotional. I'd point out it came out in 81 and that it's probably inspired by the hostage crises in Iran back in '79. seems appropriate to play it now with everything going on in Mess O' potemia (Daily Show reference).
 
Indeed...it is a mess! Glad I get to stay home instead of yet another trip there. Believe me, the desert gets old really quick especially when you don't have an axe to play! ;)
 
i have to admit i'm not real familliar with his stuff. i listen to DP, but outside of that....what is his solo stuff like???
