Steve morse y2d question

No the bridge is not F-spaced on any of the Morse models only because Steve wanted it that way/preferred the non-F version. (Neck is not F spaced).

If you look closely at the outer bridge pole pieces (E and e) you will see they are slightly inside the strings as opposed to directly centered under them.

Thanks Pete any suggestions on pickups to put into the guitar.
So if you out an f spaced pickup in it would the pole pieces be directly under all six strings?

No problem Gio!

Yes, an F-spaced in the bridge would line up the poles directly under the strings (Edit: on a Floyd, may not line up exactly on a hardtail) . I've never done any swaps in the Morse, maybe Beej can chime in?

My ears were ringin' ...

I've never measured the bridge spacing on the Morse, but given that you've got a tuneomatic bridge in there I would have guessed regular (Gibson) spacing. That said, there's only a few mm difference and not too many people seem to be able to hear the variation in spacing for the same pickup.

As far as swapping in other pickups ... suppose it all depends what you're going for. Keep in mind the Morse uses 250k pots and most HBs like to see 500k to open up. You could always change the pots or alter the switching so the HBs see 500k and the singles 250k, etc.

I've liked the Axis pickups in there, with 500k pots. More of a straight-up rock sound. These days I'm debating putting some low-output PAF style pickups in, though. I'm sure lots of guys can chime in with their preferences.

Once you do that, then you want to mess around with the singles and the switching ...

I already switched the pots and still don like them. I was think paf 36 th anniversary and maybe super distortion In bridge or maybe paf pro in bridge but have no idea about want to do about Single coil

Come guys any input on this?

Beej I have a 36th in a fender and I really liked it so I might take it out and use it in the morse.
I want something close to my 57 classic and classic plus.

The 36th is a great choice, big fan here.

I've tried a SuperD in my Y2D and loved it. Much fatter presentation than the stock pups.

You all may laugh, but since last summer I've had a set of the Slash AIIPros in there. Vintagey tones and nice cleans for my soul project.

I've tried a bunch of different pups in there, and so far the Slash's have lasted the longest. Whoduthunk.

I'd looking forward to trying the new Transition pups when they hits the shelves.

Ok so I'm thinking its going to be 36th anniversary neck area 58 single coil and super distortion bridge and I'm guessing I can't get them in the same purple as the morse pickups so I was thinking I may do creme or vintage whir to change things up a bit.

Correct, you can not get that dark purple. Zebras look nice, with a black single coil.

im conflicted again what about the 36th anniversary in the neck and the andy timmons pickup in the bridge, anyone know how those would go together.

My hunch is great, it's a combo I've been meaning to try.

Don't forget, DMZ has a 30-day return policy, and is very responsive on the phone. Give them a call.
