Still loving my Stingray

It's only been a couple of weeks since my used Stingray purchase and I'm still loving this bass.

I've angered some purists because it has a Bartolini installed instead of MM Humbucker. It also has a Active/Passive switch installed. To each his own. I also use Flatwound D'addario Chromes on this puppy too..........

I'm crazy about the playability and tone this instrument has. The feel of the Maple neck is heavenly. It suits my purpose just fine. I play Worship music a few days a week and it covers it well. I can't see giving up on this bass and trading it for something else. I've been a diehard Fender man for years, but this baby has converted me.

Anyone feel like this or am I a bit over the top on this?

Hey, I'm with you OBM, I still have several Fen@ers, but I don't play them any more. I keep having trouble deciding which EBMM is my favorite. Right now I'm playing the SR4 with flats the most followed by the Sterling... Tough choices huh?

In any case, my motto is "It's my bass and I'll bloody well install a gear shift if I feel like it."

I moved from a high-end (?) Ibanez to my Sterling, primarily because I felt no "connection" with the Ibanez.

I absolutely LOVE my Sterling to death - did so from the moment I picked it up and expect I always will!

Flats are great on the Stingray. It stills Growls like a Mad Dog. Flats give it a big round bottom end like a P Bass.

I'll give a big +1 on the Fender to Music Man Switch. I have 1 Fender and 1 Fenderesque bass that have gotten absolutely zero play since I got my Sterling.

Not over the top. I feel exactly the same. I have played Bongo for a year now, and no other basses gets any play time any more.
Don't you see another Musicman on the horizon? I know I do

About the Bart: No anger man, just serious EBMM cheering Those bart pups are fine, but I seiously doubt that you would prefer the sound compared to an ordinary SR.
Now, the axe was treated to a Bart when you got it, and you dig the sound so it's all good.

Mine's got a complete BassLines conversion. First, and only, StingRay I ever loved. So it's kinky, but it's love.

BTW, I have compared mine directly to its vanilla twin. Would never go back.
