Stingray 3-band electronics vs. Sterling SUB electronics?

I'm wondering if the Stingray 3-band EQ and pickup are the same as the Sterling SUB EQ and pickup (as the Sterling SUB doesn't have the 3-way switch). Or, does the Sterling SUB use less expensive electronics to keep it more affordable?...

(FWIW, I'm looking for a backup for my Bongo HH4. I really like the painted neck of the Bongo, and that's why I'm considering a SUB. Eventually, I intend to get another Bongo...)

id go with the substerling. Almost like a sterling but cheaper. I own a substerling and a stingray but to me they are both good. Stingray is a two band eq and sterling 3 band without switch. but the sounds are tremedously killers!!!!!!!!!

I guess we're all waiting for someone that knows the answer to your original question to compare and contrast the pickups in the Stingray and the S.U.B. Sterling.

Where's Jon when you need him?
