Hi for all !! :)
First, i want to say i played during 10 years with a StingRay 4 strings (buy new, original in a good shop in France etc ...)

Now i'm in Asia and i was very surprise to find a stingRay 5 ... and most surprise to find all i know about this bass except ... a compartment for batery :)
I can't say if it's fake or not !!
The sound is really near of what i know ... mecanics seems similar ...

Do you know if there's passive StingRay without battery ?

Thanks
(i can send photo if you want :) !!)

Does it have body contours or is it a slab body

it have body contours
not sure it's a SUB ... seems like a Classic StingRay

Thanks !

Is the musicman logo stamped on the tuners, bridge and neckplate. Does it have the made in usa sticker on the back of the peghead. What kind of finish is on the back of the neck.

I seem to remember some Asian limited edition passive Stingrays, but I could have dreamed it, too.

Pictures will go a long way towards helping the forum help you figure out what you have.

Five 7 : yes made in USA on the back like i know and i only find logo musicman on the head
bassmonkee : yes i will post more photos
Thanks

Has no coil switching, and a 5-string with
a chrome banana is just really not right.

Appears to lack a logo on the bridge and
also has too few screws on the PG.

BS detector is beeping deafeningly loud.

that banana looks way too close to the pickguard. also that bridge plate is way to close to the pickguard. pictures of the neck plate and headstock rear and front are required.

For me, this bass is quite funny and strange because there are things not sure and other seems consistent.
I found it in a thrift store in Cambodia. Here, they receive big stock together and they don't know exactly what there is inside. For example, the seller should not know Musicman, cause he wanted i try just after a sub-brand unknown as if it was the same level :)
This one certainly comes from Korea or Japan.
We see a lot of fake Fender, but for Musicman it is really not common. For Fender, you can see immediately that the finish is not the same. Here trim level seems high.
Even if I tried with a bad amplifier, the sound is pretty close to what I know.
