I've never had a need for straplocks, ever.

I thought the whole great thing about MM basses is that the strap pegs are made wider than most other guitar manufacturers', to minimize any incident of straps coming off.

I have a hard time putting the straps on, so I don't see any chance of it coming off. Then again I am never airborne at any time when I play my bass.

I've had a couple of instances where the strap has twisted off at the rear strap button, usually when putting the bass on.

I've never had a car accident, but I make sure both my vehicles are fully insured. And, nobody's ever stolen any of my musical gear, but it's insured too. I view straplocks as insurance, but YMMV.

I would not think of playing without strap locks, I have seen too many accidents happen. One mistake even a small on can be very costly!

ive never had any need for straplocks. but its nice to know that my bass isnt just going to fall off if i pull up the neck a bit. and besides with straplocks you can fearlessly do whips.

best straplocks in the world....

unscrew your end pinsreplace the screws with a little longer screw, and reattach with your strap on, and a large washer placed between the screw and the peg/strap.

your strap never comes off, it's tight, and cheap and the most effective way to lock a strap.

That works if you have just one bass, or you have one strap for every bass you own I like to be able to remove straps easily, since I mix and match my basses all the time. I've got two straps and 13 basses (all fitted with straplocks).

I just purchased a pair of Dunlop's Straplocs - I've yet to install them - but just from looking at how they work I know that everyone should really invest in a set.

You know what they say..... "better safe than sorry..."

Also, it's embaressing as hell when your bass somes loose - of course you have to grab it by the neck and then all the strings are ringing at once - that really sucks......
