I've recently noticed my axis ss has 2 small stress cracks at neck joint. And my purple luke has 2 small cracks as well. I may have missed them upon buying them, or they may be new.

Wondering now if the cracks are more a design manufacturing flaw (I hope not) and not strictly a case issue.

Worth mentioning I love EB guitars. Own five, with one being built for late Jan delivery.

I don't own any EBMM guitars (yet) but this is acommon problem with Jacksons as well. I don't know what kind of finish the EBMM guitars use, but jacksons use a poly finish that is extremely hard and durable, but unfortunately, this can lead to stress cracks in areas where there needs to be a little bit of flexability. The poly finishes don't have that flexability and hence...you get cracks. The most notorious of the Jackson guitars with this problem is the PC-1...a bolt on Phil Collen guitar. They are great guitars, but I see a TON of them with this problem. It doesn't effect tone or playability.

Been following this for a while... And yes, there are cracks in other models (Axis, Silhouette, Luke, etc.) reported.

The question to replace the body is based on if the crack in just "in the finish" or goes "in to the wood".

Personally, I can live with a very small crack that is just "in the finish". But usually, it is hard to tell if the body wood is affected by the crack.
 
Of my six EB/MM guitars, only one exhibits these small finish cracks around the neck pocket. This is a very common problem with the Ibanez RG/Jem design, however, where a thick poly finish applied to a relatively flexible area of the guitar is subject to cracking under the strain of normal use. I've owned maybe 20 RGs and Jems in my time, and more than half of them had these stress cracks, but not one of them exhibited any problems as a result. As for the cracks around the neck pocket of my AL, I could care less; the guitar plays and looks great, stays in tune, sounds awesome - I'd be afraid to trade out the body or refinish it for fear that something would change...
