Anhyone try Addario Half Rounds on their SR5? I'm happy with them on my Sterling, but I read some bad reviews on the low B.........

Wish EB made a pure nickel wrap bass string..........

I admit that it is terribly hard for bassists to avoid evil experimentation involving their favorite basses and strings from hither and yon. And then go on and on about the heinous results.

I need to put something in the FAQ about how EB is also, obviously when you think about it, a string manufacturer so would really prefer that we not get into other brands here.....but let's face it, there are plenty of places where other strings can be discussed.

In any case, I appreciate your understanding and cooperation on this issue!

I keep standard Slinky's on my SR5, just like it came from the factory, and love them!

On my SR4 I've got a set of Group II flatwounds and I like them very much. They are of a heavy gauge, the G string is a 50 I think and they would be my first choice when playing in tune is paramount, I'm not strong enough to pull them out of tune.

On my Sterling fretless I'm going back to Group III's flats, I got more muwah with them, something about the tension.

I'm not being a suck-up on EBMM strings either, they sound great on my EBMM's, but I do use a few other brands on some of my basses with good results too.

But a Bongo with a fresh set of Slinkys like Dave LaRue had that night at the concert at the open house, to this day, is the best damn bass sound I've heard live in my 48 years on the planet!

Even I....and you guys know me....must say that the Slinkys are staying on the BP Bongo. Forever.

Or until I get some therapy or something.

No apologies necessary, Mike....we're all - that includes me - getting used to not slobbering over Those Other Strings!

I liked the strings that came on my SR5. Love the flats to no end that I put on my SR5.

Still I am not a great bass player but I have upped my post count. :)

I'm stil crying that they don't make the slow wounds anymore. Of course, the multi-colored silk ends were a bit much, but those were some great strings. I'm still searching for a brand I like. Granted, I never tried EB strings. I hope I dig the set that will come on my SR5.

When I was testing out the SR5s at the local shops, I thought the strings we just fine. Plenty of zing, yet comfortably flexible.

What are the stock strings, or is that in the fax....

I'll go check myself :)

After many different experiments, with 4 or 5 different EBMM (and one pre EBMM) bass, I have concluded that the best strings for Musicman basses are:

drum roll please........................................

Slinkys.

Now on some other basses I've had, I've preferred other brands, but the EBMM basses and strings just seem to match up well.
