Strings For Sterling?

I'd like to get the opinion of Sterling owners as to what EB strings work best for you setup and tension wise. My Sterling came with some GHS SS's that were 45-105. I didn't care much for the feel/tone of these strings.I prefer to softer feel and warmer tone of Nickel to SS. So I switched to a used set of EB Regular Slinky's(50-70-85-105) I had laying around and noticed improved tension,tone and feel right away .I'm really liking these strings but i'm wondering if mabye I should mabye try a different gauge of Slinkys when I buy new strings tommorrow? So how about it Sterling owners, what works best for you?

randy ... im all about the Stainless Steal Super Slinkys. BUT you dont want SS ... so thats no help. however, im a HUGE fan of the Super Slinkys as well.

I was once all about another brand (their name only has 2 letters) but then I got my BC Sterling that had the "stock" Super Slinkys on it and I LOVED the tension (same reason you had) so since then I've been using the Super Slinkys.

I like the bling factor and the feel of stainless steal strings so I still use the Stainless Steal Super Slinkys too but I'd say that I'm pretty 50:50 on Super Slinkys vs Stainless Steal SS. My last trip to the guitar shop i got 5 packs of each and im gonna try the Stainless vs Nickel on my 2 pup'ers and then decide which will be "my string".

To me the tension on the Super SLinkys is perfect.

Ive also in the past liked a string that a jazz bassist with initials MM has a sig set of. those were good too.

Cool, so Super Slinky's are like 45-105? So it's either those are go up to 110's.I'll probably get em tonight mabye i'll just close my eyes an d point towards the Slinky's.That'll probably be easier than deciding...

Agreed - the Super Slinkys have a great, balanced feel... Just enough tension to give a bit snap yet still soft enough to be a bit expressive. :)

Been pretty happy with flats for a while now, but I'm missing a bit of "zing" myself... I figure I'll be stringing a set of Super Slinkys again soon.

Question is, on what? ;)

I use the 5 String Slinky's that say "Regular" on my SR5. I've used them for four years and they seem to work better on the SR5 than anything else I tried.
 
Heavier strings, IMO, actually allows for lower action. Why, you ask? because thicker strings have higher tension, therefore a smaller range of motion. Therefore they need less room to vibrate, and can go lower without buzzing against frets.
 
Try some EB flats. Just strung one set on my Bongo and WOW! They is keepers.
