I'm new here, and just had a few questions about the Sub1. I had a chance to play one at a store that's about 2 hours away. I didn't pick it up until about 15 minutes before the store closed, so I didn't get much of a test drive. I tried out 2 Parkers, an ESP, an Ibanez, and 4 or 5 Sg's before coming across the Sub1. It sounded WAY better than all but one in my limited tryout and played faster than anything I've EVER tried. My main questions are:

Will it be able to get decent classic rock and blues sounds, like AC/DC, Hendrix, Clapton, etc? That's mostly what I play.

Can I get decent Godsmack/Metallica tones? I play thru a Marshall JCM800 mainly plus a Behringer V amp2. I like a lot of versatility! My SG has me spoiled!

How are the clean tones?

Sorry about all of the questions, but there aren't any close to me to try out!

Was this your first time playing EBMM?

Like Obi-Wan said to Luke back in 1977, "You've just taken your first step into a larger world." (Or something like that.)

You're gonna love it!

With all the FX and stompboxes out on the market today, I can't imagine that the SUB1 couldn't get you a sound you are looking for. For a USA made guitar, it is WELL worth the value and investment! I'm not sure MM can keep up with the demand for these things.

Welcome to the addiction! I just played one yesterday for the first time. Very versatile axe for the $$$. I went from EVH to Metallica and had no problems. Played it throgh a Line 6 Vetta. Sounded fine. I think EBMM made a great decision to release this to introduce the masses to their line of guitars. That guitar is pound for pound, one of the best when compared to the likes of F**der, Gibby, ESP, BC Rich.......like the "rough" paint on it too. Gives it that old school look....

Yes it was. Although I do own an OLP Axis. It was also the Vetta that sold me on it. This technology is amazing. I'd actually be a good player if products like the OLP+Sub1, Line6, Behringer, and cheap 4 tracks existed when I was starting out back in the mid 80's! Now I've got good equipment, but a wife, kids, pets, work, etc. to keep me from having time to enjoy it! As Homer Simpson once said, " Oh cruel fate, why do you mock me?"

Dude, get the Sub1, you will not regret it. I have 2 of them and a Behreinger V-Amp 2.0 (we actually have alot in common, the wife, kids and I feel the same way about all this technology and wishing I had it in my hair metal days). I also play a variety of styles, from blues to metal, and Hrock or whatever I feel like (click on my link below and you can hear some samples that I recorded using the Sub1 and the V-Amp, although it is a little cheesy). If you treied the Sub 1 already you may want to ask Jim Friar, he was selling his, and its new and inexpensive. I've also seen a few on Ebay...ciao!
