Sweet GC Score

Buddy of mine has been looking for a Super Sport for a while. Spotted this one used at Guitar Center. 2005 Honey Burst with a great top. What immediately stood out to me was the comp nut and roasted neck (the GC pics weren't great, so you really had to look hard at it). He picked it up this past weekend and drove it north The neck is sick ... just sick:

According to Joel, this was originally sent to Guitar Center (not an artist guitar), so I'm assuming the neck was a swap by a previous owner at some point. Regardless ... it's glorious.

Not sure what the pickups are just yet. The bridge could be an all-black Axis Sport pickup, the neck is something else. I'll have a closer look soon when I give it a setup.

Update from Joel- this was pre-copensated nut, so that's definitely a neck from another guitar. I can't believe someone would let go of a neck like that.

I suppose that's possible, but the serial # does show it as a Honeyburst.

Not sure what the pickups are yet. But you used to be able to get those pickups in black (back in the Axis Sport era). I have a set in black (installed in a JP6) and I've seen them on other Axis Super Sports as well. But yeah, given the neck swap those are likely something else. The bridge pickup has a matte finish and the neck is shiny, so we'll see what they are.
