Sad news here from the UK. It's just been announced that Syd Barrett formerly of Pink Floyd has died aged 60 from complications from diabetes.

Nothing else to say but Shine On You Crazy Diamond.:(

yes I just heard about an hour ago.

Very sad - I have a lot of time so time to get the "Pink Floyd" book out and read about the group history again.

RIP

That is very sad, heard it on my way into work. My Father in law died from that nasty ass disease last year, I hope he went out peacefully. RIP Syd..

Sad, sad, day indeed

Anyone listen to David Bowie's cover of "See Emily Play" ?

"I can't tell you how sad I feel. Syd was a major inspiration for me. The few times I saw him perform in London at UFO and the Marquee clubs during the sixties will forever be etched in my mind. He was so charismatic and such a startlingly original songwriter.

Also, along with Anthony Newley, he was the first guy I'd heard to sing pop or rock with a British accent. His impact on my thinking was enormous. A major regret is that I never got to know him. A diamond indeed." - David Bowie, July 11th 2006

How I wish, how I wish you were here.
Were just two lost souls, swimming in a fish bowl.
Year, after year. Running over the same old ground.
What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.

RIP Syd.
