Ok so Im going to be graduating high school this june and Im hoping to take a musical major in college. Most of the colleges I've been looking at require me to do an audition, so Id like to play a song that will wow the judges. Anyway I decided that I'll play sinister minister by bela fleck and the fleck tones. I can play every part of the song except the bass solo. the reason I cant do the bass solo is because I dont know how to tremolo pick with my thumb like victor wooten. I tried a bunch of other forums but no one seems to be able to explain it. I tried lookin for videos online but nothing. Anyways does anyone have a clear explaination of this technique? Ive also heard it called double thumping if that helps, thanks

if its double thumping its not that hard. you slap the string like you normally would, then take your thumb and get it under the string and then kinda pop it back up. so its like pop, under, pull up. when you pull up it will pop against the frets making the slap sound. if you want me to go into more detail i can. for a double slap video check out classical thump by victor wooten. that has some.

well that makes more sense than what Ive heard about it so far. do u any links where i can check out the video? thanks

usualy when you audition for a colege music program, they give you a list of around 5 or more charts that you have to pick 2 or 3 from, then they will ask you to walk the changes, play the melody, and take a solo, they will also ask you to sight read most of the time, they might even have a student band set up to play with.

ps. if you get live at the quick video or dvd by bela fleck and the tones, vic has a solo song where he does alot of that kind of picking.
