I was going to make a bid but I didn't think "you know who" (aka wifey) would want me hanging it in house.....or on the roof top for that matter.....so a pic was the next best thing :D
 
Bovine, iv'e noticed that your costume shop Fender has two holes on both sides of the bridge. Is that on propuse?

I think i preffer the Jazz bass the best out of the Fenders, but then again, iv'e never tried th P-bass before. I just like the sound of the J- definitely my next bass will be it.
 
Those two holes are for the bridge cover. It also has two holes for the pickup cover. These Custom Shop basses, or at least the NOS models, come just like they did in 1964 - with the covers installed.

I might have opted NOT to have them installed, but WTF, it IS a great Jazz bass (as it should be for that kind of money).
 
ahh right i saw these covers... why are they good for anyway? the best from a fender, IMO, comes by playing right over the bridge pickup, just seems mlike a disturbance to have these covers

Depends on your playing style and the tone you are after. I play my jazz over the neck pickup because I prefer a fat old school tone, so leave the bridge cover on. Other people prefer a bitey treble tone, so play over the bridge.
 
yes i know, i'm one of the people who likes the more treble-jazzy-punchy sound from the bridge pickup, as i said in the post before.
but what do the pickup covers change? what are they for?

Could be cosmetics but, from what I understand, the metal covers play an important part in the sound...adding to the magnetic flux/properties to the PUPS.

Now that could be "gobbledie gook" but Leo, IMO, did everything for a purpose....I mean the guy got everything wright.

I wish he was still around so I could ask him :(

It's very interesting. Pity it was discontinued the same year it came out. I still want one, though.
