WTF is this crazyness?!??!?! This guy is really a freakin trip I tell you. This is probably one of the weirdest freakin "things" I have seen play guitar.
Oh, and to answer your questions about where he came from, it's kind of obvious!
It's my educated guess that he was dumped out of a KFC buckett that was laced with chemical waste and some guitar strings and possibly some left over DNA from Mike Meyers (from Holloween, or one of those stupid movies w/ those stupid masks)!
 
Buckethead is one twisted guitarist. He had a band called Deli Creeps for awhile which I believe is where he started to cultivate that mask look. I have an old cassette of him wailing away on some project called "Praxis"

I think his real name is Brian Carroll and I thought he took lessons from Paul Gilbert. I used to be really into him until he landed the gig with Axl
 
He came out during a Primus show at Cow Palace that I was at once, what a trip. I got my pic taken with him and Bootsy Collins at NAMM the football year. :eek: :)

This is supposedly Buckethead (aka: Brian Carroll). And no, that's not really his pinky. ;)

Praxis was a great project he did with Bootsy Collins and Brain (second drummer for Primus, among other things). He also did a really cool funk/experimental project called Zillotron, also with Bootsy Collins.

I remember back when I was playing Metal clubs in the late 1980's and early 1990's - a lot of the bar owners wanted us to make announcements about drink specials and mention beer brands on stage - We told them to get lost most of the time.

Buckethead is a phenomenal player that is for sure. Just, "strange" is an understatement. He can certainly play and let that do the talking, I guess he feels he needs to be in character for some reason. I am sure his private life is just that....private. To be honest.....I wish I had 1/2 his talent...LOL...minus the bucket of course...hehehehehehe.....

Well, with that hair and "Michael Jackson" listed as his 1st influence... it's no wonder he took up the bucket. ;)
 
I also have one of those Praxis cd's. To be honest, I find this type of playing way too weedlee weedlee....its just TOO MUCH.

However, I don't know if any of you are aware, but I've heard some stuff by him that is played on those "Hearts Of Space" radio programs of ambient "space music".
Very, very nice stuff if you're into that sort of thing. I was very surprised when the announcer said the name Buckethead in the playlist on numerous occassions.
