There was a "ticking" noise coming through the amp - at the moment I'm home recuperating and playing a bit of guitar - my AL through my AER as it's so light to lug about 
I almost had to call the bomb squad to carry out a controlled exposion of my beloved AL, then discovered that when I was playing with the piezo on, my mobile phone was in my pocket next to the piezo, and that's what the noise was !!!
I remember a thread a couple of weeks ago about someone who had a similar ticking problem so I thought I'd add my "new found knowledge" to the pot.
It also picks up the ticking from my Rotary watch but I'm ok with that one!!!
