Ive orderd a Bongo from america pretty much from your guys reccomendations, without having tried one.
(p.s. 5 weeks and counting, thanks guys for the reccomendations.)

Ive heard along the grapevine that it is very hard to 'slap' using the Bongo HH spec.

have you guys with a Bongo HH had this trouble?, or is it just a matter of getting used to a different position.

It is a little hard to slap on the HH config. The neck humbucker doesn't give much room to pop. It may come with time, however. I only played the Bongo for a few minutes at Guitar Center. I'm sure the Bongo-ers can tell you their experiences.
 
Sorry I can't be of much help on this subject as I only slap possums, not basses. Although I also once slapped a guitar player, but he needed it.

I've heard this before, that the pickup location makes it difficult to slap, but I've also heard that the adjustment is fairly easy once you've played it a while....but as I said, this is all based on what others have said.

So you Bongo slappers - any input for this good fellow?
 
I'm really not sure about these folks who can't slap on the Bongo--maybe they have gigantic hands larger than their bodies. I have quite large hands and slapping on an HH Bongo wasn't even an issue. There's more than enough room to get yer fingers in there.
 
I've heard both arguements and basicly what I think it's coming down to is just getting used to the bass.
 
When I got my Bongo 5 H/SC I lowered both pickups, especially the SC to give me more room for slappy. The 18 volt circuitry is wired so hot that lowering the pickups make the bass sound better and reduces my sometimes (alright most times) clumsy fingering noise.:p

Once you get used to it you'll love the high end snap - nice and crisp with E-B regular slinkies.:D

Yeah i very very rarely have the need to play slap with the stuff i play, but I can slap fine with my dual humbucker G&L, so should be right with the Bongo!!!

I have no trouble with my bongo as far as "slapping". There's plenty enough room between the neck and the first pickup for your fingers to land - IMO
