the seller neglected to tell me about the crack in the back of the neck (where the headstock meets the neck)!!!!

Needless to say it is going back for a full refund....too bad, it was a nice EVH too!:(

That's a bummer. Did he know it was there when he sold it to you? Did he put up a fight or did he just take it back?

Are you sure it's not just where the poly on the headstock transtions to the neck?

yeah he knew....his excuse was that, "oh, well it was that way when i bought it and i never had any trouble with it"

yeah, i'm sure. the crack went up in between the nut bolts. and there were some dents on the headstock indicating that it had been hit at one time or another. it is a shame!!! it would have been a nice player.

Well, at least you're geting a refund....Usually it's buyer beware.

oh yes, you are right....i thought i was stuck with it, but he was honset and said that he forgot to tell me about it.

or else i was gettin in my truck and heading for the east coast to kick some ass!!

How much was it?
Was he willing to cut a better deal on it?
Is he paying shipping?
Are you going to wait for a refund check before you ship it out?

It's always refreshing to hear about an honest ebayer. Usually , all you hear are the bad things. It sucks that the neck is cracked, but you get a refund.

Isn't this the guitar I saw for sale on the Gear Page Emporium last weekend? If so, when I saw the ad for the guitar for that price I thought to myself, 'I wonder what's wrong with it?' At least he'll take it back. Sounds like you put some work into cleaning it up. A shame.

that's the one...and yes i did put some time into it, the fretboard was nasty...everything was nasty

he said he played it for 10 yrs with this crack, well, maybe he did and that's great, but i'm not ready to make a high dollar gamble that it isn't gonna get worse. it may be ok, i tend to be a little on the picky side, but why buy a guitar with a cracked neck, if you dont have to? i dont care what kind of guitar it is.

i didnt take pics of the crack...i already have it boxed up and ready to ship back

it was less than $2000 not much less

i'm not sure what he will do?

he paid shipping for me

he would not refund the entire amount untill he had the guitar back...so he sent me half, then the other half when he gets the thing back....which is total BULL S**T, because i sent him the $$$ site-unseen the first time, what like he cant trust me to send the guitar back, what a prick!!

I had an extremely fruitful conversation with someone at DHL (a courier over here in the UK, dunno if you have them over the pond). Anyway, an item I recieved was insured for the amount it was bought at - £450. Except it arrived broken and the box was in tatty condition. Anyway, it turned out that it was against their terms of service to be able to insure an item for its value as well as how much it cost to send it. It was a heavy item (an amp) so the postage was £45 on it.

Thankfully, I managed to re-emburse myself for the amp tech fees on it after a lot of hassle. However - it made me think, that had the box itself gone completely missing. Even WITH insurance I'd have basically paid them £45 (around $80) to lose the amp, which is shocking.
