This is copied from another thread that didn't get much attention....

"Guys, I need help, my guitar is driving me nuts.

Before I bought the Silo I thought I would never play a floating bridge guitar again, they all drove me crazy because they never stay in tune (and I never really go wild on the Floyd Rose, very rarely actually and very modestly I would say). But then a local luthier installed a Gotoh1996GT bridge in my cheap Ibanez RG350 EX-BK and that guitar would stay in tune for 2 weeks I swear. So I thought if that is possible, then I will get myself a Musicman, I have heard great stories about them staying in tune and I love the feel and playability of those guitars.

So when I bought this guitar (pictures on the first page, I didn't want to start a new thread so people who want to help can actually see the guitar), I took it to a local luthier, Peer Dellen, who is a custom guitar maker and apparently a good one (note: not the guy who did the job on my Ibanez, this time around it was more convenient for me to take it to Peer Dellen).

I picked it up some time ago and this thing just doesn't stay in tune. The bridge is parallel to the body, the action is nice, not too low , not too high, just as I like it, he put 0.10s on at my request and everything looked like it couldn't get any better.

BUT!

After one minute of playing, without even touching the Floyd Rose, the G, D, A and E strings are detuned. Then I use the screws on the bridge, again and again, until I run out of headroom, and I have to unscrew the locking nut and tune up. At that moment all the strings just go wild and it needs serious retuning (on my Ibanez they stay in tune even after unlocking the nut). So, I tune it up, lock it, but after twisting those screws on the nut they are out of tune so much that I almost run out of headroom on the bridge again to do the fine tuning. Not to mention the fact that the bridge is now not parallel to the body anymore but higher. No matter what I do I cannot get this guitar to stay in tune, and I know it shouldn't be the case because it is brand new and everything is set up properly. At least I think it is. I did all the string stretching, waiting, I did not expose it to temperature changes (as I know that this will always have an effect). I am afraid that in this case it is something more serious.

And yeah, I just remember , I had the same problems with my Ibanez PGM with the stupid TRS floating bridge, years ago, I sold it and never looked back...

I think I will take it to the guy who worked on my Ibanez, but in the meantime I need some consolation and I need you to tell me that everything is going to be allright Seriously, what do you guys think is the problem?

Many thanks for your attention, any help much appreciated..."

In the meantime this is a clip of me playing my Ibanez because the Musicman has tuning problems :):)

A jesi probao s drugim setom zica?

To the people who don't understand Croatian, Ivan suggested that there might be a problem with the Floyd Rose studs.. I've thought about it too and I will take it to a lutiher again. But I think it's because I insisted on installing 0.10's and I guess the guy who did the setup just didn't take the time to readjust everything. Would going back to 0.09's solve the problem?

The life expectancy on a Floyd is around 4 years for normal to heavy use. It could be a combination of the trem posts and the knife edges being worn down or worn out. You may also want to consider some new locking nut clamps and bolts.

I don't know if this is anything that any of the guys suggested in Croatian, but I thought I'd throw it out there in English.
