I had to dress it up a little.

Here's the before.

Here's the after (actually still during. Need to restring and reset the intonation)

The trem arm that came with the guitar was a screw-in. I replaced it with a MM trem arm. I took it a step further by removing the cream trem arm cover, and replaced it with the tip from a chrome trem arm from WD Music. It fit perfectly.

I also replaced the black switch tip with a chrome one, also from WD Music.

I swapped out the vintage saddles for a new set of MM stainless steel block saddles.

I got the trem arm here.

Damn, that is cool. I'm not an axis type of guy, but this is the second one that has me rethinking the Axis.

Nice one - we've had a couple of queries over the years regarding chrome tips etc and I think you have nailed it.

I'm having solid gold ones made for my LE AL - only because a guy I know has his own business and I have enough scrap gold to do it. If that works we'll make silver ones for my other AL.

Once again - well done - a nicely thought out mod.

The pickguard is probably the next thing I'm going to flirt with changing. Clear plexi sounds like a great idea. I'd leave the PG off, but with the screwholes already in it, I'd rather have a PG on.

Thanks for the input!!

Same place I got mine for the Spaceball 3000.

I think next I'll order a mirrored pickguard shaped like the one you have.

Subtle but very effective!

I'm definitely switching out the pickguard. I've put in for a clear plexi pickguard from Pickguard Heaven. It takes a few weeks to get it from them, but I'll post pics when I get it.

OH you have make very goods update for your axis
you have a lot of chance
in France it's imossible to have an order to new saddle
i would like to get Axis saddles for my Dargie and the local dealer say that it was impossible
i'want to pay it i don't understand
if someone can help me

Lovin' the chrome fellas,

There's a UK Signature artist - Jamie Humphries, - he got his axis done in all chrome by a UK spray shop - it's amazing,

Didn't blues Saracero have a chromed AL ?

I'm going to take some pics of the body without the pickguard on, just to see what it looks like underneath. I think a clear pickguard is going to look great on this one.

I think Stevie Stevens also had a all-chrome Axis made as well.

I took a couple of shots today, just to see what it looked like under the pickguard.

I was worried that the color around the rest of the guitar might have faded, but it's consistent. I have a little of built up grime to clean off, but I really think a clear pickguard is going to be the answer.

I'm waiting to hear back from the guys at Pickguard Heaven. I really want the clear pickguard to pan out. Anyone else have any experience with them????

A brief update. I ordered my new pickguard today. It'll take three weeks for the good folks at Pickguard Heaven to complete it and get it out to me. I'll post more when it gets here.
