Use by date?

Do strings have a use by date? I found a set today that I bought about 15 years ago, must have shoved them in a box and forgotten about them. Will they still sound good? The easy answer would be to put them on and find out, but if they sound bad then I have wasted the effort in restringing my bass.

I think it mainly has to do with how they have been stored. Apart from that i cannot see how manufacture year could make a difference.

But hey, don't but them on your bass, put them up on ebay. NOS strings

You could boil them? If they are completely dead then at least you be able to get that F*nder sound

Colin, I usted to think that about fenders also (just plain fricken weak sounding ! )
I bought a 1997 Fender Collectors edition with the texas specials-those pickups have some webles !!!!
