So, admittedly, it's taken me a little while to warm up to the Valentine... I liked it... just didn't love it... until today. I decided to try tuning it down to Eb (still had 11s on) and ran it through a Vox AC15 model on my Helix (a model I don't use much)... I feel like I just found the niche for this guitar. It sounds and plays incredibly. I feel like I just got a new guitar. Anyone else tried this?

I haven't tuned mine down but I did adjust the boost to be lower which made it much more usable for me.

I haven't tuned mine down, but I'm falling hard for it. It's just great all around, and so light and comfortable to play. Loving how the neck pickup - split and not - takes to OD pedals for rhythm.

My LIII's place as #1 is definitely in peril. I could pretty easily see having a second Valentine strung with flat wounds. James, Sterling and the gang just hit it out of the park with this guitar!

I think I'd just found the 11s a little heavy but tuning down made them just slinky enough and retained the chunkiness. It's probably just me, but it just feels better and seems to sound better. Could be the amp combo, too. I use Matchless patches 99% of the time but the AC15 was just about as sweet as anything with the Valentine.

I also reduced the boost and now find it useful.....switched to 010 strings too

I put a set of 10s on mine within the first few hours of owning it. I've played size 10 Slinky's for many years now.

I have a sterling Valentine from Pete... it's got the coil tap and highly polished frets. this has become my number one as of late

I absosmurfly LOVE mine. If I get enough work in the next couple of months, I may break down and buy that limited edition ivory white that was shown at the NAMM show.

I immediately put .09's on my Valentine and never looked back. Plays perfectly and sounds different than my Axis and Strat in the most welcome of way. Wonderful to have on hand for recording and such. Absolutely brilliant design on this guitar and I've never played a guitar as well thought out.
