Hey everybody,
I need some good vibes here today ... it's an unhappy Valentine's day here, my Sweetheart was wisked away by her family and our plans to get together today for tea were ruined without warning... we met last summer in the hospital and sh's been a major part of my support since then, but we've always had resistance from her miserable family(Peter knows some of the ugly story:eek: and lately we've been getting more interference, and pressure, but havings our special day plans ruined with no warning is a heavy blow and I'm not doing well at all today...:(

Whatever good vibes YouZ'All could send up would be much appreciated:)
As Always, Thanx so much for all the support over the last many months since my fall.:)

Sorry to hear this; this is a day where no one should interfere with your relationship, and it shows very poor taste and tact on her family's part.

Some good vibes and a Guinness from down South dedicated your way!

Pzo how old is your Sweetie? How can the family exert such control?

do something to keep busy....break out a music creation program.....go to the zoo...go talk to other stroke guys and help them just do something.

Think of it this way: everyone does something 'romantic' on Valentine's day. You can do whatever you planned to but on another day - it will be more special, as you'll be the only ones doing it.

I try never do anything on Valentine's day, flowers cost too much, restaurants are too expensive and crowded, and I'd like to think of myself as a non-conformist. So I took my girlie to a Rufus Wainwright show on Tuesday instead. Tonight I am free, just like you... (sorta). It feels good to be an anarchist!!!

Peace.

A Jedi's strength flows from the Force, PL! Bend your mind on unconditional peace and contentment. Though it's Valentine's Day and it's true that "no man is an island", it's also true that "solitude is independence", and "He is the Cat who walks by himself, and all places are alike to him". :)

Initiating vibe transmission sequence ... NOW!!

Take it easy brother,
Robert

Wishing you both well.

Sorry to hear it's the uphill fight for you at times with the family. Kids ought to be looked at kinda' like a spouse...not as a possesion, but more as a gift every day you wake up and see them with you... You can't rule either one of 'em forever.

Again, keep the chin up. Wishing you the best.

Hey Everybody, thanx Large amounts for your msgs and vibes here today and always ... I'm feeling badly about wasting your time and bandwidth with my worries like this, and so all I can feel good about doing is sending good vibes back to YouZ'All:)and special thanx for listening to my tale of woe ... this is powerful family dynamics stuff for sure ... SWeetheart had her own CVA last year (which is how we met in rehab) and it seems her family (early 30s kids, half her age, have caught themselves in a sibling rivalry thing (guilt driven about which of them is the best and most caring offspring ... part of this internal family tension is magnified because soome are thousands of miles away and one is hundreds of miles away and they're jockeying to see who can grandstand the biggest and "parachute" in with lots of flash and noise to impress "Mom" about how much they "care" every time they get wind that Mom needs some assistance doing any thing, so, today's session was about "parachuting " in to make Mom feel "loved" on Valentine's day, all the while resenting the fact that since last summer, Mom has found somebody else to keep her company day to day, and on Special days ... so, now the jealousy creeps in to the mix, and I'm refusing to play their game about "who is the most loving of Mom's support network ... some of the reflex action is about"how dare an outsider intrude into "family" stuff.. my determination is to not go down to their level and get involved in their Pissing contest
meanwhile, Mom ain't exactly stupid, but she *is* a *Mom* and doesn't want to be too exact about her unhappiness with their insecure behaviour and intrusions into her private life and I'm trying not to hurt her feelings by expressing myself too bluntly about their direspectful actions and rudeness(blood's thicker than water)... there's other stuff in the mix, but this is the EBMM forum, not a soap opera and so, all I can wish for YouZ'All now, is good, happy and peaceful communications in your families and continued good health and more new BONGOs for everybody,

Thanx again everybody, and, now, back to regular Forum:cool: chatter:)
ATB,
/PL:)
at my end, Monday is my first meeting with my new mentor and today was a phone call from another major rehab unit about my future outpatient therapy and also today, test driving new motorchairs so I can get out and about easier, more often,
so, today wasn't all bad, but I'm sure the good stuff was in BIG part because of the positive vibes and support from everybody here ... Thanx again LARGE, OK?eh?
