Volume Differences between Bongo and Stingray

I know there is the obvious point that one is an 18v preamp vs. a 9v preamp, but my Stingray seems to be quite a bit less loud than my Bongos. I did not seem to notice much difference in volume between the Bongos and the Sterling and SR5 I had, but this new Stingray HH is not as loud as the Bongo, especially in the positions other than the bridge position.

I have tried raising and lowering the pickups and there is some difference but not enough. And yes, there is a new battery in it.

Anybody else directly A/B'd a Dualie Stingray and a Bongo?

All my Bongo's seem louder than all my other basses, they are just hot I guess, I have no problem with that though, just back down the gain... somewhere.

My Bongo 5H is much hotter/luder than my SR 4H/P. I don't think it makes any practical difference but you can notice it.

Ditto the Bongo boost... With all controls at their center detents and all else being equal, my Bongo is louder than my Sterling.

My Bongo is louder than my SR5. I attribute that to the 18 volt preamp. The SR5 gets loud but you plug in that bongo drivers are going to be needing replaced.

I just thought 18 volts made for a stronger preamp. Plug it into the same place as you were a 9 volter then expected things to be boomy.

Well thats pretty much the same thing.

I guess I have been playing bongos for so long I really had no concept of other basses.

Im about 99.9% sure it's the Neo Magnetts, they are 10 times more powerful then any Ceramic or alnico.
That's my theroy.

When I plug in one of my Stingrays I just play. When I plug in the Bongo all the cabinets in my house buzz and I worry about structural integrity.
