Has anyone heard the Ibanez Weeping Demon pedal? I've heard good things about it but have never heard it personally. Going to pick up a wah pedal today. Any suggestions?


Also, would it be better for a person who records/plays out to purchas like a GNX3000 as opposed to having four on the floor? I'm sure the pedals sound better, but as far as convienance, what would you guys go with? Not exactly sure whether to go ahead and get a pedal or buy a guitar workstation.

IMO individual pedals will always sound better but the GNX will give you more options, a seperate wah will sound better though, like a crybaby or a morley bad horsie II which activates when you step on it although I think the 535 sounds better - but I run some pedals up front and some in the loop so I keep them seperate for that reason -

I have the Ibanez Weeping Demon and it ROCKS! It's versatile in that you can really adjust it to your liking, things like character, upper and lower frequencly...hey there's even a 7 string or LOW (detuned) setting. Plus you can set it to spring or free form, and it also has two modes for ON/OFF, one option has activation as soon as you depress the pedal (with a pause adjustment) and the other mode is an on/off stomp button on the side.

I found the original post where I did some samples and listed which settings. Take a look and a listen if you want: (Please excuse the cheesy playing :D )

As promised I have finally recorded some sound clips with my WD7 Weeping Demon wah pedal from Ibanez…funny thing though, yesterday I was searching the net for sound clips and while visiting the Ibanez site, I noticed another feature for this pedal that I completely forgot about…ok enough of that lets get this thing going.
Now I recorded the clips in one long demo, so I will tell you before hand the basic operation and when you hear certain que’s then you will know when I change settings.
I recorded the demo using both a semi-clean (overdrive) and a distorted sound with a touch of echo. I started with all of the settings at a minimum. (3 settings being characteristics, lo-frequency and fine tuning for the range) all in conjunction with the range switch alternating between normal and low (7 string ) frequency settings. So in essence there will be six main clips, all starting with me picking a simple chord, and each will be divided in two stages with the distorted sound taking up the rear. The six main clips follow as such:

Range - Low (char. + lo + range: fine) at minimum

Normal (char. + lo + range: fine) at minimum

Range - Low (char. + lo + range: fine) at midrange

Normal (char. + lo + range: fine) at midrange

Range - Low (char. + lo + range: fine) at maximum

Normal (char. + lo + range: fine) at maximum

Please note I used the built in mic so the recording isn’t the best. You can hear me stomping and clickin away…Also keep in mind that there are a huge variety of available tones by mixing up the settings...oh BTW I apologize for the link, I couldn't find a place to host soundclips so I substituted my tunes with this clip...just click on the WD7 link...

I have once tried this WD7 in a local guitar store and, to be honest, this pedal, even from far away, cannot compare to my Morley Bad Horsie wah. It sounded kind of weak, when I turned up the gain I could barely hear any wah effect, and on the bass side of pedal it produced some sort of horrible squeaky sound (even my friend, who was with me, asked me not to put the pedal in that position again :)). Well, it just didn't sound right... In this price range I would rather go for VOX v847 or Morley Bad Horsie, in my opinion they are far better wah pedals than this Ibanez. But, please note, that I didn't bother too much setting up this pedal, so it may be possible that the pedal was poorly set up and because of that produced poor sound. I may give it another chance one day... :p
About the construction of the pedal: it looks so plastic that I would be afraid to use it anywhere ouside of my room. It sure wouldn't be nice to break a pedal during a gig... :) But the looks may deceive... Zoom 505II also looks & feels plastic, but the little thing is quite touhg to break down... :)
 
I had a DOD fx17 and, for me, it was great. Not the best switching system though. It also doubles as a volume pedal.

Have used the Morley and realy enjoyed it. The stomp on and go seemed to work fine.

Sure and steady is the Cry baby.

The EB wah is definitely going to happen. Dudley is going to post some pics and questions for us when he has a free minute. But yes, it's still on the table as far as we know.
 
Thanks for the replies guys. They gave me a good deal on it, so I picked it up. I may pick up one of the aformentioned pedals as well. I do have to say, after tweaking it a bit, it sounds pretty damn good. The versatility is a big plus as well. :)

+1, my friend! I tired and tried but conld never find a wah I liked as much as the bad horsie. I got a dunlop 535q from a friend and just coulden't get a sound out of it close to the BH... BUT it did a couple of neat things so now I run it WITH the morley... I like having options....
 
I used to have a bad horsie, and I found that it was too smooth, like too much treble and bass, and not enough of that cry baby type vocal sound. But bad horses for corses and all that!
 
I use a buddah...I think theyre a good value if you can tolerate the purple.... :D
 
Pretty happy with my Clyde Deluxe, though I'm by no means a wah freak.

...I think that's why I liked it... then I got a crybaby to use with it... ha.
