i know that there is a thread on posting wants.

I just wanted some advice if anyone has for me to get my first Axis.

I want to be careful getting it so it comes out real nice.

What should i watch for??

I am preferably looking to get a used one from Europe so i dont go through all the hassle of customs etc..

i am looking for preferably a trans amber or orange axis. I dont care that much for it to be in tip top shape cosmetically. But i want it to be structurally perfect.

any ideas are welcome!

thanks guys!

Hey tone....I was on a quest for my first axis not too long ago, and did tons of research and spent a lot of time here. I ended up with 2 Axis super sports and i have a 3rd with a floyd rose on order. I'm happy to help in your search.

They are very similar....the maple fingerboard gives it a little brighter sound (very subtle) and the rosewood a little warmer. It could be just my imagination, but it seems that the rosewood fingerboard makes the neck seem a tiny bit thicker.
I really like the 5 way switching options with the super sport, and the trem stays in tune very well.

I'm not sure about the dealers in the UK (I'm in the US), but I've seen people mention "Strings and Things".

thanks man!!

I would love to try the Axis SS, to see how the vintage trem sounds compared to the Floyd. There arent any Axis SS here.

the best thing is try to check all the nearest EB dealers in your area, call em and see if they have any AXIS SS in stock.Hopefully you can come by and play those cool Axis, I wish you all the best on your quest.

A town with no balls is a sad place to live in!

the ironic thing is that out of the two Axis' that are here the one is setup totally goofy ( with the floyd floating a mile off the neck) and priced at 2600euros!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Having used both Axis models, I can tell you that the ASS trem is just as, if not more, stable than the Axis with Floyd. THis ain't your grandfather's trem system.

Hi Tone

The Axis SS is a work of art. I recently got a hard tail and can't recommend these highly enough. Absolute joy to play and the range of sounds is incredible. It's one of the few gits I've played that sounds good on all 5 switch positions

Hope you find what you're after :)

I've been playing my Axis SS (hardtail) for well over a year now, and I'm still shocked at what an incredibly versatile and great-sounding guitar it is. I play in an 80's cover band doing everything from Tears for Fears to Alice in Chains, and no kidding - I can play an entire 3 set gig with nothing but the Axis. It is far and away my #1, it'll do damn near anything tonally.

Nothing really helpful to add other than great choice - you can't go wrong with one of these babies. It is a remarkable guitar, hope you're able to get one that works for you.

Good luck!
