Sounds like an impulse purchase to me... not that I'm immune to them myself.

A better idea is to sit it out, go out and try out some instruments in guitar shops and find one you really want. If it's not within your budget, save up for it.

There's no point in having an instrument that is "too good" to take to a gig. I forget who it was (possibly Buddy Guy), but a famous blues guitarist was of the same mindset as you and decided that his pre-CBS strat was too valuable to take out on the road. While he was on tour, it was stolen from his house.

If you're worried about damaging your bass, or it getting stolen, get it insured. You need to do this even if you only play it at home, sooner or later you will put a ding in it at home.

The Musicians Union is something you should consider joining, if you're serious about being a musician. They can help you out with insurance.
 
How the hell do i join a musicians union? and also, I'd be de-tuning this streamer down.It's be my other 5 string in effect.I liek detuning cuz the strings become ultra slinky and easy to play, and if you give it a high action it doesnt rattle much, and even if it does, it gives the bass a good growly sound.
 
Save the money -You alrerady have a RockBass... get the neck fixed, because they are the same thing under different labels (which also happen to be Warwick's low end).

If you aren't going to play the Thumb out, why have it... sell it and get a plethora of other basses.

You can try asking, I suppose, but I wouldn't hold out too much hope.

Different companies have different policies on this sort of thing. Music Man wouldn't sell you a new neck (or pickup, etc.) without sending back an old one... even then you can only get one that's exactly the same as the old one (ie. you can't replace a maple fingerboarded neck for a fretless rosewood one). Rickenbacker are the same.

Fender will sell a replacement neck, at a price, no questions asked. Don't know about Warwick.

Look at it this way... what's to stop someone replacing a neck on a Rockbass and selling it as a bona-fide Warwick? Same thing with an OLP...
 
That's as ****ed up as anything, surely they should allow you to upgrade your instrument?! MM and rickenbacker suck major dick if that's their policy!:mad: It's jsut pointless, people should be allowed to upgrade their basses as they get more money to be able to do so, they shouldn't have to buy a bass outright with everything already there, as it may cost too much.:mad:

You've never played this model Streamer, but you trust the company. The Standard Streamer is the sick man of Europe. There is a reason they sell so cheap. Passive electronics with an airy, unfocussed sound. The highs on them are so thin and the bass is so clunky.

LOL, well I jsut don't agree wit hthat policy, it sucks.I think warwick would make me a new neck, if i paid them enough.And also, my rockbass had 2 passive humbuckers, and it had an awesome tone.No other bass could match it, not even the thumb.It was very distinictive.I think it was because of the carolena body.It was very deep.

So they can make fake instruments?

Tell you what... I'd be more than a little upset at finding out I'd bought a Rockbass that had been doctored to look like a Warwick, wouldn't you?

Just do a google search for fake Fender decals. Hey, why don't I get some of those for my £100 strat copy? That'd be a nice upgrade.

I've also seen counterfeit Music Man decals for sale... nice upgrade for an OLP?
 
if musicman go selling there necks and pickup's to people then youl just end up with hybrids everywhere. Thats all well and good when fitting say a Fender Jazz neck to a Fender precison bass to aide playability, but there are companies which specialize in doing this sort of thing. Warwick should supply you with a new neck, and surely it shouldn't have warped being as though there so **** hot? I don't like the idea of ****ing around with a musicman, there a unique bass which has a unique sound, if you don't like it buy a copy with different pickups etc
