I would say the Majesty was in place of a JP14.

The number is based on when (year) the guitar was released, so there was never a JP14.

Actually the JPX, marked the tenth anniversary of the original JP guitar. Numerically it's the same thing (because the first guitar came out in 2000) but the calendar year was not the intention, just the anniversary.
