What distortion pedal do you guys use? Keeley Modded DS1?

I use an old Ibeenhad Tube Screamer, and lot's 'o gain on either my Mesa, or Fender Blues Deluxe, or sometimes my Laney(not often)
 
I'm looking for a new distorted sound that isn't too fuzzy. Any advice on a pedal with a tight, full distortion, if that makes sense, would be appreciated.
I use the Digitech Bad Monkey overdrive right now with the gain set to 10% to keep it tighter.
 
Just to blow the top end of the budget......

Klon Centaur is the most natural organic pedal I've heard.

I do also use a Keeley TS9, HBE Power Screamer, MXR ZW, Bixonic Expandora

I've used the Tonebone Classic, Tonebone Hot British, and now the MI Audio Tube Zone.

I'm currently eBaying off both Tonebones :)
 
I'm not using any distortion pedal currently.. just the built-in capability of my Triple X. However, I must say that I like the distortion of the Digitech GRUNGE pedal.. and it's really cheap, too! Try one... you'll be surprised! I don't know what it is about that little pedal, but it can produce a really nice distortion.. to my total amazement.
 
I have both a Keeley modded DS-1 and a Keeley modded MT-2. Love them both. The DS-1 really is a sweet pedal and Keeley really made this thing sound like a ripping Marshall. I dial mine in for some good overdrive and then I hit it with a Keeley Fuzz Head to boost it up. The MT-2 is just all out metal and Keeley's mod takes out the shrilliness.

he still makes them, although the one Brett has is not a production line model. But if you can wait, he will make you one just like Brett's.
 
I use a Roger Mayer Voodoo Axe for fuzz and my new favorite distortion pedal the Metal Muff with Top Boost. It can really nail any 70's to 80's distortion sound and has a flexible EQ section, plus it's fairly quiet and it cleans up well with the volume knob. I use a Durham Electronics Mucho Boosto for Stones type crunch.

I used to have a Yamaha Tri-band distortion pedal that was pretty cool.

Yup. They are definitely still getting made. The fact that they're made here (more specifically in Sydney!) is awesome because they are cheaper to buy here than in the US. About time we got one back on the Yanks :)
 
I had a ProCo from the early 80's and it was the best sounding pedal... it was well worn and sounded sweet.... it was tragically stolen... and the new ones just don't sound as good... IMHO!
I'm using a BOSS BD-2 and Rocktron Rampage... both are amazing... but not as good as my RAT.... sure do miss 'er
