What do people play the EBMMs through at NAMM?

I see all these pics from the Open House, from NAMM, in which people are playing EBMM guitars and bases through these little boxes with what look like some kind of headphone amp in a metal case. What's in there?

At the open house we played through a modeler/effects processor of some sort, I don't remember the brand, but it had tones of pre-set tones to try out on the guitar.... there was no control over the sound other then scrolling through the patches, but it a had quite a variety for demoing the guitars.

They are little Korg modeling units... I can't recall the name.. was it a Pandora?

national association of music merchants.

NAMM shows are where a lot of stuff in the instrument industry are reveiled. so kinda like a cool car show but musical instruments instead of cars. thats how i think of it

Yup, the Korg Pandora's box. They are crap IMO. I think Sterling said he was going to be getting rid of them and using something else (can't remember the name right now).

You cannot get a true bypass on them, no matter what setting you are using it is "colored" with some effect.

i think he said they are going to the newer model pandora.........
i think they are pretty cool 4 what they are.
i don't see them as stage units though....more as a very useful practice unit.
for backstage they are very useful for warming up & such. (on the rare occasion i have time to actually warm up)

For what they do...they are okay. I liked the clean channel the most, but yeah, it does have some delay or chorus on it....you are kinda limited to only using the presets, but then again, if you let everyone dial up a tone, people would be twittling with the pandora and not test driving the axe....

i have a pandora, nice little unit but it sounds like crap!!!!! has come in handy a few times, but the sounds aint great.

I think those units are great for the purpose that MM is using them.. you can dial up various general types of tones and hear the instrument in that scenario. Maybe not your exact preference for sound/tone, but it covers a lot of bases in a small package. I see it as a Rockman on steroids.

actually i love my Pandora for the hotel rooms ,great practice rig ,Korg makes some of the greatest effects units out there(rack stuff) check out some of the studios in NY and L.A lots of Korg effects ,they all serve a purpose ,finding what fits your groove is the fun part.....

I put my Pandora PX3 out on the 'bay Saturday. Since I picked up the Roland MicroCube I haven't touched it. It was a decent little unit and it served its purpose. I liked the fact that it had a built in metronome, that's the only thing I wish the Roland had.
