what neck finish do you like?

I personally like oiled necks. But i read alot of people prefer a painted neck like on a bongo. Or a high gloss neck like on the classics.
In my opinion oil necks are super fast playing but they do get dirty if not cleaned every now and then. So i also like the glossy neck on my classic sr4. It looks way better too. But slightly harder to play to me.

I have some basses that I love and play that have a glossy finish on the back of the neck, but really prefer the oil or a thin satin finish. I have done outdoor gigs in the cold where the glossy neck becomes a little 'sticky'...

My favorites are the roasted necks. Love the feel of the wax finished ones but the looks of the high gloss ones. Both play great too.

Whatever EB uses on the new classics in not sticky at all it's super smooth and fast . Also looks amazing

I do agree that ebmm glossy finished necks are not sticky. Really not as sticky as anny other brand that i ever played. But still the oit gives 0 resistance when going up and down. Also true that the glossy finished necks look totally awesomme.

I'm a huge fan of the oil/wax neck finish. I happily play my gloss finished Sabre but my Honey Roasted Bongo neck is oil/wax and it's the best feeling, easiest to play Bongo neck I've ever felt.

I prefer the satin urethane finish that they use on the headstock of the new rays. The earlier rays had the whole neck coated with that and they had the best of both worlds, a smooth playable neck with a hard durable (and easy to clean!) finish.

Gloss is right up there though.

I have coated, uncoated, painted, and unfinished roasted. They all play very good but I think the neck on my Honey Roasted Bongo is the smoothest.

I voted for a color finish (Bongo like), ...but transparent mate will be fine too if someone prefer to see a wood grain!

High gloss would be a fine too, but I'll never play an unfinished neck again!

I have 2 ebmm's that are 2005 I don't know what the finish is I think it's a sort of Matt but they are by far my favorite
