What piece of gear can you guys not live without?

outside of my silo specials which allow me to play like a mofo, it would be my MXR overdrive that I put in front of any amp and get a good sound and one of my EQ pedals....
 
taking my EBMM out of the equation

it would be my Dr. Z Maz Jr. 112 - i can get a great tone without any pedals on that amp... and just roll my volume to get cleans...
 
my morpheus drop tune pedal. i joined a band that tunes down to e-flat and also plays a couple songs in d- flat, and i cant be bothered to have guitars all re setup. pedal makes it real easy.
 
For me it´s the guitar, my Steve Morse. Second the Albert. The rest of the gear is changeable and has no special importance.

This question seems simple, but indeed it´s quite a bit difficult.
I could live without. I mean I wouldn´t drop dead without, but it would be less fun...
 
Probably my guitar. I can't play guitar without my guitar.

Seriously though, and this might sound dumb, my guitar pick. I cannot play well without a pick that I really dig. I'm not someone who can just grab any old pick and be happy. I get too distracted by how it feels "wrong". Been loving the Dava jazz tip poly gel picks lately.
 
My kettle.

I mean there are other ways to heat water up for tea, but none as fast as the kettle, and you can't play guitar without a nice hot cup of tea.

This may be an English thing... ;)
 
It would definitely be my pedalboard. It's pretty much the core of my sound that I've been working on for a while to get it right. Still need a few things, but my 3 drive pedals, tape delay and strymon BlueSky is a staple that works through any amp you give me and most likely any guitar you put in my hand. Of course having a good guitar is intrinsical so you don't have to fight playing it.

This^ haha. Though I'm inclined to agree. I'd like to have a JP handy and could settle in most other areas. The little Yamaha THR series amps are killer for practice as are the latest iPad apps like what Positive Grid offers.

:D:D:D Cmon Roubster, a pedalboard with 3 drive pedals, tape delay and a strymon is not "a pice of gear". That doesn´t coun´t. Otherwise I´d say my most important gear is my car loaded with 2 guitars, a halfstack and my pedalboard :D:D:D

My Sterlings and my JP Sig Jazz picks are the two things can't live without. They're so comfortable to play with that it contributes so many ideas t my music.

I don't have any amps or pedals, just a computer and a line6 ux1.
 
Elixir strings. The only thing that hasn't changed in my setup for years. Everything else is just a question of uncontrolled GAS :D
 
I consider that a piece of gear...it's on one pedal board and in the same category. But if you wish for me to reduce that...fine. It would have to be the BB preamp and Empress Tape Delay. Those two I cannot play without and be inspired.
 
Outside of guitars, I have a little hand wired "dumble clone," boutique 40w amp head from VVT called an X-40 and a spring reverb cab conspicuously hand wired inside a fender reissue '63 cab, by Dario Gomez. Together, with any of my EBMM guitars, they are magic, especially when played through my 2 1x12 cabs loaded with celestion alnico gold and Weber blue dog speakers. Sometimes I think the rest of my effects just get in the way. I do love my Butler bias tube driver and my TC Flashback X4 as well, but they aren't an essential part of my core set up.

If I had to get rid of everything and only have one amp and one guitar, I would keep my reflex and a fender deluxe reverb amp (that I never even play, anymore)...and a Dunlop EJ pick.

Outside of my guitars, it would be my Duoverb amp. Its 'my' sound. People may poo-poo a digital solid state amp, but I always get compliments on my tone.

Its light, no tubes to worry about, DI is fabulous and dirt cheap on the used market. I have three of them!
